An Emotional West (Genre: Society)

Emotions are what make us human. They are a great way to express if directed correctly. They make us relate better if positive and friendly. It is true that in the West for many years now it has been advocated to suppress emotions, incorrectly so.

As a result, it has become a sea of expressionless but humane people who no longer think it important to respect relationships leading to an overall deterioration of the society and a general breakdown of the family set-ups. Lack of emotions is the first step towards a fragmented society to occur that would not be sustainable in the long run. The inter-personal relationships that exist are a key to success and happiness anywhere, anytime,

When you are emotional about a person or a thing or maybe a situation you tend to care and respect. In other words, you empathize and love the entity and the thread of relationship that comes into being. This then helps you become happy and satisfied while giving you a more meaningful existence. An individual with an emotional approach is one who develops a confident and friendly outlook while being appreciated and viewed as a genuine human being.

It is not to say that one should be negatively emotional to the extent that it makes one sad and depressed with all the negatives that surround us but the positive emotions should always be more and stronger than the negative ones in a person. Giving unconditional love to those around you goes a long way in building a safe and sane society and people should realize, more in the West that this is a direct byproduct of having emotions.

Loneliness affects a great percentage of people in the West and it is a disease. If people are emotional in a man-woman relationship they may as well love each other for a lifetime. This is the greatest need of the hour that people in a relationship do not take it merely as a sexual thing to be enjoyed. Emotions define who we are as a person and what we stand for in our lives. They have the potential to affirm our status, make us communicate better and allow ourselves to vent our feelings.

In a world where time is scarce, people don't always seem to think they have time for emotions. But is it not true that there is a time for everything? How can you imagine living in a world devoid of true feelings and true relationships? Emotions are a unique way of letting others feel comfortable with your state of existence and its appreciation of the others' state without any scope for incongruency. If you are true to yourself, your emotions will be true for others.

The West is in shambles and people wait even in their last days wondering why true love doesn't come after all? It is because you attract what you give to others. If you emotionally give out true love, true love is bound to find a way to your heart. Emotions give you passion which is essential for true love and any other true relationship. Emotions build an element of sanctity and truth that can bear the test of time in any desired relationship.

The West has a chance to see why it doesn't offer emotional backing in its relationships. Same sex and Man-Woman relationships are quite dry and bereft of feelings. Is this how we want to present ourselves to the world? Is this how we want to live? Living for and with others with emotions is what counts the most and the West should take a first shot at correcting what has gone wrong.

Emotions are what makes one feel attached and responsible to his surroundings whether it is a person, place, thing or an idea. What the West lacks today is this thread that binds people together. With concentrated action and a general feeling of awareness it is very much possible that divorce rates will climb down, loneliness as a factor of our lives will diminish and families will spruce up beyond doubt. In being humane lies the future of humanity and the West is no exception.
